I Will Be Fierce

Today, I will be fierce!
I will take on the monsters that stand in my way.
I will search for the light in the darkness.
I will be the hero of my story.

And then, I will rest. For tomorrow, I will be fierce again.

A young girl takes on a typical day like a brave explorer taking on an epic fairytale quest. From home to school and back again, our hero conquers the Mountain of Knowledge (the library), forges new bridges (friendships), and leads the victorious charge home on her steed (the school bus).

These empowering mantras written by debut picture book author Bea Birdsong have been brought to life through magical illustrations by Pashmina author Nidhi Chanani.

About the Author

Bea Birdsong began her career as a classroom teacher before becoming a writer and editor for the education market. She has a degree from the University of Miami. Bea is a member of SCBWI and Sisters in Crime. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, son, and a spoiled rescue dog named Bilbo. I Will Be Fierce is her first picture book.

About the Illustrator

Nidhi Chanani was born in Kolkata, India, and raised in Southern California. She holds a degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is a 2012 White House Champion of Change for her art. She is the creator of the graphic novel Pashmina. Nidhi lives in the San Francisco Bay area with her husband, daughter, and two cats.
